Lawyers
attempted to track down and corresponded with the descendants entitled to
a share of the estate. From the death duty registers it appears that sister
Ann had 43 descendants, Sarah 5/10 had 61, Mary had four and Elizabeth
one. A solicitor’s letter of 5 March 1895 calculates that each of Sarah’s
descendants would receive £3 3s 5d out of the £200 legacy after
duty of £6 10s had been deducted |
